Lampan is now out on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium, and it has already been winning hearts. The series is inspired from Prakash Narayan Sant’s novels and retains originality and sense of belonging despite that. Lampan is the story of a six-year-old boy forced to move out of his house and adjust to a new setting. He moves out of his own house and into his grandparents’ house, where his mother once lived. This brings about a lot of change, which is briefly explored in the new promo released by the makers.

Lampan vs ajji

Mihir Godbole’s Lampan is almost always having a tiff with his ajji, played by Geetanjali Kulkarni. Him being a child who has no sense of responsibility and maturity, her being overly-responsible and mature thankfs to her husband, Lampan and his ajji often have clashes. This also goes on to define their relationship, and how it goes beyond the fights.

Lampan’s love for food

Food played an important part in the series, for it brought families together. Lampan loved the idea of that, and it was visible in how Mihir Godbole would look at food being prepared and served on the table/floor.

His adventures

Being at the very age, Lampan and adventures went hand-in-hand. He was often found running from one place to another, looking for what to do next. From swing to kite-flying, young blood rushed through Lampan and took everyone back to their own childhood, where they lived carefree (and clueless about why adults are the way they are).

In a scene, Lampan is seen getting confused about directions. This comes down from his grandfather but also from the fact that his professor did not understand Lampan’s learning style. While still unable to understand his professor, the biggest question that haunts Lampan is why his parents behaved the way they did. Thus, he tries to connect with them in the only way he feels he can – through letters. And thus, he remembers his aai-baba while living with his ajji-ajoba.
