L360, the 360th outing of superstar Mohanlal, is one of the most anticipated upcoming projects of Malayalam cinema in 2024. The untitled project directed by Tharun Moorthy is touted to be a family entertainer. Shobana is playing the female lead in the film, thus reuniting with Mohanlal after a long gap of over 15 years. In a recent chat with a leading Malayalam media, the filmmaker opened up about his ambitious project. Interestingly, Tharun Moorthy stated that L360 is not an attempt to recreate the ‘vintage’ Mohanlal.

L360 is not recreating ‘vintage’ Mohanlal, says Tharun Moorthy

In his recent interview with a Malayalam media, director Tharun Moorthy revealed that he is attempting explore a new side of Mohanlal, in the untitled film. The filmmaker, who is a big fan of the superstar, revealed that he grew up watching the legend’s films. However, the Operation Java director states that he never attempted to recreate the ‘vintage’ Mohanlal we are familiar with. Even though the superstar is presented in his much-loved ‘common man’ look in the film, director Tharun and his team are attempting a new side of the legendary actor.

Even though the talented filmmaker intends to bring out the innocence and rarely seen simple side of Mohanlal, he intends to present all of it in a never-seen-before manner. According to Tharun Moorthy, producer Rejaputhra Renjith and Antony Perumbavoor advised him to not change his making style to accommodate the superstar. Instead, the duo advised him to place the celebrated actor in the world he creates. The filmmaker further added that Mohanlal is performing only in the way the script demands, in his untitled film.

Shobana on board

In his chat, Tharun Moorthy also revealed how Shobana came on board for the film. According to the director, producer Renjith informed the veteran actress about the film. Shobana immediately contacted Tharun through a video call, even though she was busy with a dance practice. Interestingly, the filmmaker also revealed that they shot Mohanlal and Shobana’s scene first in the film. The duo is very spontaneous with their reactions, thanks to their immense experience in films.
