Fans have been eagerly anticipating updates regarding L2 Empuraan, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, fully cognizant of the high expectations surrounding the Mohanlal-led project, is determined not to let them down. He has announced that the teaser for L2 Empuraan will be released on January 26, 2025, accompanied by an intriguing poster. This poster appears to suggest connections to Freemasonry and the Illuminati within the universe of Lucifer.

L2 Empuraan teaser release poster

On Friday, Prithviraj Sukumaran shared on Instagram that the teaser for L2 Empuraan, featuring Mohanlal, is set to debut at 7:07 PM on January 26, 2025. While the confirmation of the teaser release date is exciting, the poster he revealed alongside it has particularly captured our interest.

The poster exudes apocalyptic themes, depicting a procession of cars advancing towards a tower that bears a resemblance to the Washington Monument. The image seems to be captured from within a building, with parts of a door frame visible, providing a literal glimpse into the world that Prithviraj and his writer, Murali Gopy, have crafted.

Freemasons, Illuminati and the world of L2 Empuraan

Speculation among fans regarding L2 Empuraan's connections to Freemasonry, and specifically the Illuminati, has been circulating on social media for some time. The concepts of the Illuminati and Freemasonry were likely introduced to many millennials in Kerala through the novels of Dan Brown. The L2 Empuraan poster hints at a Freemasonry connection with its tower reminiscent of the Washington Monument. As a fan of Dan Brown, one recalls that Freemasons originated in medieval Europe and are considered the largest secret society globally. George Washington, the first President of the United States, is believed to have been a Freemason, and it was the Freemasons who symbolically laid the cornerstone for the Washington Monument.

Illuminati, while also a clandestine organization, is not directly affiliated with the Freemasons, as reported by The Week. Although both groups share similar symbols and draw members from Freemason lodges, the Illuminati is not classified as a faction of the Freemasons. Some sources even suggest that the Illuminati had a relatively brief existence, lasting just over a decade.

The connection between the Freemasons and the Illuminati lies in the theories that both organizations are perceived as highly influential, comprising notable historical figures and possessing the capacity to influence global affairs.

Turning to the Malayalam film, the 2019 release "Lucifer" concluded with Stephen Nedumbally disclosing his true identity as Khureshi Abraam. With Stephen transitioning from his all-white attire to the sleek black garments of Khureshi, there is considerable anticipation that "L2 Empuraan" will delve into a more sinister realm. The link suggested between Freemasons and Illuminati in the promotional material has led to speculation that Abraam may be involved in this secretive network. The darker aspects of his character are expected to be further developed in "L2E," alongside that of Zayed Masood, portrayed by Prithviraj. Previous reports indicated that Karthikeya Dev would depict a younger version of Zayed, hinting that the film will explore his origin story.

Leap from Lucifer to L2 Empuraan

The film "Lucifer," regarded as a significant production in Malayalam cinema, primarily explored the political dynamics within the small state of Kerala, although it initially introduced an Interpol investigation. When Stephen (portrayed by Mohanlal) finds himself in a precarious situation, he receives assistance from Zayed Masood, revealing that Stephen is not merely an ordinary politician from Kerala. In "L2 Empuraan," audiences will seek to uncover the connection between the Interpol investigation and the true identity of Stephen, who was first presented as an orphan. The narrative involving Freemasonry or the Illuminati has not been a common theme in Malayalam films, which typically focus on grounded stories and relatable dramas. Should Prithviraj succeed in integrating this element, "L2 Empuraan" could elevate itself to a distinct category. However, given that "Lucifer" is part of a trilogy, we can anticipate that the versatile filmmaker will leave us with further inquiries as he prepares for the third installment.

"L2 Empuraan," featuring Mohanlal alongside Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, and Indrajith, is scheduled for theatrical release on March 27, 2025.
