The teaser for L2 Empuraan, starring Mohanlal, was released on Monday. The two-minute-long video was uploaded on the YouTube channel of Aashirvad Cinemas. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and produced by Lyca Productions, the film is the second instalment of the trilogy that began with the 2019 hit Lucifer.

The teaser sets the stage in the abandoned town of Qaraqosh in Northern Iraq, where the character Steven Nedumpally is introduced. He is portrayed as a saviour with a dark and enigmatic side, alongside Ab'raam Qureshi, the leader of the most powerful mercenary hit squad in Asia.

The film showcases Mohanlal in an action-packed role, accompanied by grand visuals. It delves into themes of power, betrayal, and control, weaving together elements of political intrigue and the mercenary world.

About the film

For its Malayalam debut, Lyca Productions collaborated with the acclaimed producer Antony Perumbavoor's Aashirwad Cinemas Pvt. Ltd to finance this grand project. The star-studded cast features Prithviraj, Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Saniya Iyyappan, Sai Kumar, and Baiju Santosh in key roles.

L2E: Empuraan was written by Murali Gopy, with music composed by Deepak Dev and cinematography by Sujith Vaassudev. Executive Producers Suresh Balaje and George Pius were part of the team, while Prithviraj Productions handled the production design, and Mohandas served as the art director. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on March 27, in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi.

This film marks the third collaboration between Prithviraj and Mohanlal as director and actor, following their previous successes with Lucifer and Bro Daddy. The teaser launch of L2E Empuraan took place in Kochi, with Mammootty as the chief guest. The event was attended by the film's cast and crew, along with other prominent personalities.

Lucifer (2019), a political action thriller, was Prithviraj's directorial debut and featured Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, and Vivek Oberoi, among others. Bro Daddy (2022), a comedy-drama, was also directed by Prithviraj and starred Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Meena, and Kalyani Priyadarshan.
