Prithviraj Sukumaran has been keeping fans on their toes since Sunday by revealing two characters each day from his upcoming directorial project, L2: Empuraan. This film, featuring the legendary Mohanlal, is generating a lot of buzz as it introduces a fresh face to South Indian cinema. Behzaad Khan, who gained attention for his role as Pakistani Wing Commander Imran Rasool "Red Nose" in the upcoming Fighter (2024) starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, will also be part of L2: Empuraan.

Behzaad Khan is coming on board with L2: Empuraan

Khan, who takes on a key role in the film as a terrorist leader named Salabath Hamza, opened up about how he prepared for the character and his experience working with Prithviraj. He mentioned, "I'm portraying a terrorist leader in this movie, and his name is Salabath Hamza. He’s a pretty dark character. As an actor, your voice, facial expressions, and body language are crucial. After years of experience, I’ve learned that no matter if the role is big or small, the preparation you put in really shows on screen."

The actor mentioned, "When I got the details about the character, I came up with a little backstory for him. I focused on how his voice would come across and how to make it impactful. Luckily, I've got a pretty good voice. Putting in the effort to develop your voice and hone your skills really pays off, and I used a deep bass voice for this role. I believe that really fits the character."

Prithviraj Sukumaran's direction really deserves some serious applause

Khan shared his admiration for Prithviraj's directing skills, highlighting how well he manages to guide his actors. "After collaborating on this project and being directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, I have to say he’s one of the top creative talents out there. He wears so many hats—actor, producer, director—and he really knows how to work with actors. He creates a relaxed atmosphere. On my first day of shooting, I was a bit unsure since I had never done a South Indian film before. I felt a little nervous, but he put me at ease and helped me understand my character. When a director has a clear vision of the character, it makes it so much easier for an actor to bring that to life on screen, and he excels at that. I truly enjoyed the experience of working with him."

Khan's role in L2: Empuraan is set to bring even more intensity to the film, which is the follow-up to Lucifer (2019). With Mohanlal back as Khureshi-Ab'ram, excitement for the movie is already through the roof.

L2: Empuraan is all set to hit theaters on March 27, 2025.
