L2: Empuraan, the highly anticipated second installment of the Lucifer franchise, has been under production for quite some time. The Mohanlal starrer, which started rolling in October 2023, was shot at various locations in Kerala, New Delhi, Ladakh, the USA, and the UK. Prithviraj Sukumaran, the actor-director, and his team kickstarted the Gujarat schedule of L2E, recently. As per the reports, the team is now busy filming the portions of Zayed Masood, the character played by Prithviraj, in the film.

L2 Empuraan – Prithviraj Sukumaran shoots Zayed Masood’s backstory in Gujarat?

According to the reports, Prithviraj Sukumaran and his team are now busy filming the back story of Zayed Masood, in Gujarat. The major update is dropped by Karthikeya Dev, the Salaar actor who is roped in to play the role of the young Zayed, in the film. For the uninitiated, Karthikeya also played the younger version of Prithviraj’s character Varadaraja Mannar, in the 2023-released blockbuster Salaar. The young actor recently took to his official Instagram handle and dropped a story, confirming that he has joined team L2E.

Earlier, Prithviraj Sukumaran revealed that he is not allowed to perform action sequences till June 2024, owing to his leg injury. As per the reports, the actor-director recently finished his resting period and has already started shooting for the intense action sequences involving his character Zayed Masood, for L2: Empuraan. Recently, the multi-faceted talent posted a picture from the sets of the Mohanlal starrer, which was clicked during the night shoot, on his Instagram handle. From the reports, it is safe to assume that some high-voltage action sequences are in store for the Malayalam cinema audiences in the film.

L2 Empuraan – 110 days of shoot left

The grapevine also suggests that Prithviraj Sukumaran and his team shot for over 65 days for the film. However, only around 40 percent of the shoot is finished so far. The pending portions of the Mohanlal starrer will be shot in multiple schedules, that are expected to last for over 110 to 120 days. In that case, it is safe to assume that the entire filming of L2: Empuraan will be wrapped up only by October 2024. If the reports are to be believed, the makers are planning to release the film in March 2025.
