L2 Empuraan worldwide box office collection day 10: Prithviraj Sukumaran's L2 Empuraan, featuring Mohanlal in the principal role, appears to be achieving significant success at the box office. This comes at a time when both the actor-director and producer Antony Perumbavoor have received notices from the Income Tax Department related to a case from 2022.

L2 Empuraan has achieved the status of the highest-grossing Malayalam film in history and continues to thrive, with aspirations of reaching even greater heights by the conclusion of its theatrical run. According to trade reports, the sequel to the 2019 film Lucifer has generated a net revenue of ₹94.50 crore and a gross of ₹110.50 crore in India by the tenth day. Additionally, it has amassed ₹137 crore from international markets, bringing the overall total to ₹247.50 crore. The film recorded an occupancy rate of 27.61% on Saturday and experienced an increase in earnings compared to Friday. Expectations are high for an even stronger performance on Sunday.

IT notices served to Prithviraj, Antony

On Saturday, the Income Tax Department informed Prithviraj about a case from 2022 concerning his films Jana Gana Mana, Gold, and Kadavu. According to ANI, a notice was also sent to producer Antony, requesting clarification regarding the alleged financial transactions tied to his earlier productions, Lucifer and Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea. Sources indicated to the agency that this case is unrelated to L2 Empuraan.

This development follows controversy surrounding the film's portrayal of the 2002 Gujarat riots. In response to criticism, the filmmakers voluntarily made edits to the movie, including altering the name of the antagonist. Additionally, the Enforcement Directorate conducted raids on another producer of the film, Gokulam Gopalan, on April 4 and 5, seizing ₹1.5 crore in connection with an alleged violation of FEMA regulations.
