L2 Empuraan in Rs 100 crore club, claim makers

Aashirvad Cinemas, the production company behind Empuraan, revealed on social media that the film featuring Mohanlal has achieved over Rs 100 crore in global box office earnings. 

“Empuraan has exceeded 100 crore at the worldwide box office in under 48 hours, establishing new milestones in cinematic history,” Aashirvad Cinemas stated on their social media platform. The creators of L2E also expressed gratitude to everyone involved in this remarkable achievement, accompanying the announcement with a striking image of Mohanlal portraying Stephen Nedumpally from Empuraan.

Empuraan day 2 box office collections (India net)

Conversely, industry analyst Sacnilk has indicated that the film generated net collections of Rs 11.75 crore in India on Friday, the second day of its release at the box office. Empuraan achieved a gross of Rs 21 crore on its opening day. Consequently, the total net collections in India, according to Sacnilk, now amount to Rs 32.75 crore.

Prior to its launch, Empuraan experienced exceptional promotional efforts, including tours across multiple cities, a rarity in Malayalam cinema. Upon its debut on March 27, the film faced criticism regarding its storyline, although the high-quality production and impressive visuals were well-received.

The eagerly awaited L2 Empuraan, the second chapter in the three-part Lucifer series, arrives six years after the first installment, which was a major success in 2019. 

This ambitious film features the powerful pairing of Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran at the helm, supported by a remarkable ensemble cast that includes Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Suraj Venjaramoodu. Additionally, the cast features Abhimanyu Singh, Eriq Ebouaney, Andrea Tivadar, and Jerome Flynn.
