L2 Empuraan, the action thriller sequel to the 2019-released blockbuster Lucifer, is nearing the final stages of its production. The movie, which marks the third collaboration of superstar Mohanlal and actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran, is one of the most anticipated upcoming projects from the Malayalam film industry. In a recent interview with Red FM Malayalam, L2 Empuraan music composer Deepak Dev opened up about the project and dropped some exciting updates.

In his chat with Red FM Malayalam, Deepak Dev confirmed that the project's shooting is currently in progress. Interestingly, the musician also opened up about his conversations with L2 Empuraan director Prithviraj Sukumaran and confirmed that the actor-filmmaker is happy and confident about the film. According to Deepak, Prithviraj texts him mostly after cracking a great scene with a special message, revealing something fascinating is on its way. The music director also revealed that the filmmaker often tells him the rest is on his hands, thus leaving him tensed. 

Interestingly, Deepak Dev also revealed that Prithviraj Sukumaran sent him a few scenes after completing the spot editing, recently. The music composer is extremely happy with how the project has turned out and added that Prithviraj has shot the film exactly how he narrated it. The celebrated musician, who is also a close friend of the actor-filmmaker, added that Prithviraj Sukumaran is an excellent storyteller with a keen eye for detailing.

L2 Empuraan will not have an item song

Deepak Dev, who extensively spoke about the Mohanlal starrer, further revealed that the movie will not have an ‘item song’ like its first installment. For the first installment the climax song number ‘Raftaara’ from Lucifer immediately became a chartbuster and was a subject to controversy. However, the team has decided to not include a similar song, in L2 Empuraan. The Mohanlal will have a few songs, that match the mood of the film. But Deepak Dev still believes that things might change anytime, as director Prithviraj and his team have been constantly working on the narrative, during shooting.

Mohanlal is set to reprise his celebrated character Stephen Nedumpally aka Khureshi Abraam, in L2 Empuraan. Director Prithviraj Sukumaran will return to play the role of Khureshi’s most trusted ally, Zayed Masood. All popular faces of Lucifer are returning to play their respective roles yet again in the film, which features Suraj Venjaramoodu, Arjun Das, Sharaf U Dheen, Shine Tom Chacko, and others as the new additions. L2 Empuraan is produced by Aashirvad Cinemas and Lycaa Productions.
