Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi – Golden Star Ganesh’s first collaboration with director Srinivasa Raju, who’s best known for making the violent Dandupalya series, gave the actor a much-needed hit after a string of below average and average performing films at the box office. Released in theatres on August 15, Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi had a good run at the box office, despite mixed reviews for its far-from-novel content. The film had released at a time when the Kannada industry was in a slump and audiences lapped up the family entertainer that Srinivasa Raju and Ganesh offered.

The film’s OTT release date was confirmed a few days ago. Sun Network had picked up the digital and satellite rights of Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi and while it was first thought that they’d give the film a festival TV premiere for Sankranti on Udaya TV and then bring it to Sun NXT, in a surprise move, following its 100-day celebration, the network, announced that the film would begin streaming as of November 29. That day’s come and Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi is now available on Sun NXT. You can also access the film with an OTTplay Premium subscription.
After the director-actor duo announced their maiden collaboration, both remained tight-lipped about the content, only volunteering that it would be a romantic comedy, which was new territory for the filmmaker. Prior to the release, barring a couple of on-ground events, the team, including Ganesh, did minimal promotion, letting, instead, the music to do all the talking. Arjun Janya’s compositions for the film, which Srinivasa Raju says he personally oversaw, were one better than the other, with a few, like Dwapara, Chinnamma, My Marriage is Fixed, among others, becoming runaway hits. In fact, the song Dwapara and its hookstep became very popular for Instagram reels as well.
The film, which brought Malavika Nair to Kannada cinema, was praised for the fresh pairing and for presenting ‘vintage’ Ganesh in an entertaining and engaging film. It revolved around the lead pair, Krishna (Ganesh) and Pranaya (Malavika) and the challenges their love story faces when he ends up with retrograde amnesia and does not remember her.
