The makers of Kottukkaali, the upcoming Tamil film, released the trailer of the film on Tuesday. The film which stars actors Soori and Anna Ben in the lead roles, is scheduled to release in theatres on August 23.

Kottukkaali is an upcoming Tamil film starring Anna Ben and Soori in lead roles. Ahead of its release on August 23, the makers of the film released the trailer on Tuesday.

The two-minute long trailer has noises of rooster through its runtime, as we see Anna Ben’s Meena sporting a silence as she sees a rooster being tied to a rock and unable to move. We also see Soori trying to wade off evil spirits off her, as the family is seen getting ready for the rituals. We see a lot of drama ensuing as the trailer ends with a few members embroiled in a spat.

The film is directed by filmmaker PS Vinothraj who earlier made the critically appreciated Koozhangal. Kottukkaali marks the director’s second film and just like his debut, Kottukkaali made a splash at the festival circuit and earned early positive reviews. It also marks one of Soori.

Kottukkaali is produced by actor Sivakarthikeyan under his home banner Sivakarthikeyan Productions. The film marks Anna Ben’s debut in the Tamil film industry.

Kottukkaali revolves around two Indian families who are preparing for the wedding of their daughter, Meena, and son, Pandi. However, complications arise as Meena is in love with someone from a lower caste. The film unfolds after the wedding ceremonies are completed, and Meena's seemingly cold demeanour leads her family to believe she is possessed.

Soori and Anna Ben’s performances in the film have been highly praised during the film’s screening at international film festivals. It also mark’s the first time Soori and Anna Ben are collaborating for a film.
