Kottukkaali, the recently released Tamil film which has been critically acclaimed and starring actors Anna Ben and Soori in the lead role, will soon be available for streaming for audience outside India. Kottukkaali will premiere on Simply South on September 27.

Kottukkaali OTT release date (outside India)

Kottukkaali is helmed by director PS Vinothraj who previously made the critically acclaimed film Koozhangal (Pebbles). Following this, the filmmaker’s second directorial is Kottukkaali, which also made a splash at the international film festival circuit. The film stars actors Anna Ben and Soori in the lead roles.

Kottukkaali released in theatres on August 23, and following this will be made available for audience outside India on Simply South app. The film will stream from September 27 onwards, the platform announced on social media. The film is yet to get an OTT release date in India.

The film revolves around a young woman called Meena, who is tormented by her family for falling in love with a lowered caste boy. After she resorts to silence to battle her family, they think she has been possessed and take her to a shaman. Kottukkaali is a road trip the girl is made to take along with her family and Pandi (played by Soori) who is decided to marry her.

Actor Sivakarthikeyan has bankrolled the film under Sivakarthikeyan Productions. Upon its release, the film received rave reviews from critics. OTTplay review of the film reads, “Kottukkaali is nothing short of a brilliant masterpiece that effortlessly captures the wrenching reality of trauma, abuse, and power dynamics. Vinothraj and his team of actors and technicians know the right time to stop, react, and proceed, which makes this film an immersive experience.”

The technical crew of Kottukkaali includes cinematographer B Sakthivel and Ganesh Siva working on the edits. The film has no music, however the sound design is by Suren G, and S Alagia Koothan. Raghav Ramesh is the production sound mixer.
