Kishore on 'Sikandar': Working with Superstars Like Salman Khan Expands Audience Reach

While the actor often takes on police roles in southern films, this might be a fresh experience for Hindi movie fans. Still, it raises the question of whether Kishore is being typecast. “That can happen, but it’s usually in the larger, more commercial projects,” he explains, referencing his roles as a cop in movies like Kannur Squad alongside Mammootty, Vettaiyan with Rajinikanth, and Kantara with Rishab Shetty, among others.
Sikandar marks Kishore’s first collaboration with both Salman and Murugadoss, a chance he believes he earned through his extensive work in Tamil cinema. So, why did he take on this role? “Working with big stars has its advantages – it helps you reach a wider audience. For example, a fan of Salman might see me in Sikandar, and if they enjoy my performance, they might check out a smaller film I’m in later. It’s a long-term strategy, but I’m banking on it, especially since I’m also stepping into filmmaking,” he shares.
This week, Kishore has more than just Sikandar hitting the screens. He’s also starring in L2 Empuraan, which is set to premiere in theaters on March 27. In this film, he portrays Karthik, an Intelligence Bureau officer on a mission to uncover the identity and motives of Mohanlal’s character, Khureshi Ab’raam. “I don’t have any scenes with Mohanlal, but I do share the screen with Tovino Thomas, who returns as Jatin Ramdas in the Lucifer series. As an IB officer, I initiate some events that lead to significant consequences,” the actor explains.
