Actor Kishore is well-known among Malayalam film fans. While he primarily works in Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu movies, he has also appeared in a few Malayalam films, with his most recent being the Mammootty-starrer Kannur Squad. Coming up next, he’ll take on the role of a paranormal investigator in Vadakkan, set to hit theaters on March 7. After that, he’ll have a significant part in the highly anticipated sequel to Lucifer, titled L2: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Before the film drops globally on March 27, Prithviraj has been unveiling the characters from the huge ensemble cast, and the latest reveal is Kishore. He plays Karthik, an Intelligence Bureau officer, and his role is described as “pivotal” to the story. In a promo video about his character, Kishore shares his excitement about joining the project, not just because Lucifer is a well-known brand that was a major success, but also because he gets to work with Prithviraj as the director..
Kishore: Super pumped to be in L2 Empuraan; it was tough, but worth it!
I was super pumped to team up with Prithviraj, so I jumped at the chance right away. Karthik is juggling two different worlds and trying to keep things classy. It’s a really intriguing and key role, the actor shares, mentioning that he had to mainly use English and Malayalam, which was a bit tricky. “I had some lengthy lines in both languages. As a Kannadiga, nailing Malayalam like a native speaker was pretty tough. I had to keep up a certain pace, and Prithviraj would often nudge me to speed up, which made me stumble sometimes. I really had to put in a lot of practice,” he adds.
Kishore shares that collaborating with an actor-director was a fascinating experience, especially since he's just starting out in filmmaking. “From what I’ve seen, an actor who directs really understands the actors and their viewpoints. They get how actors operate and what it feels like to be in front of the camera, which is super helpful. For example, if you’re struggling with lines, emotions, or movements, having an actor in the director's chair makes everything flow much better. That was definitely a plus for us in Empuraan.”
