Doctor-actor Kinjal Nanda has been at the forefront of the ongoing protests of junior doctors against the heinous rape and murder of an on-duty doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. His web series Kaantaye Kaantaye was recently dropped on Zee5. Besides his protest posts, he also posted promotional activities on his social media

However, soon after that Kinjal became keenly involved in the protest movement. He has been a doctor at RG Kar. The murder of his co-worker deeply touched him.

The hearing on the case took place at the Supreme Court on September 9. On the same day, Bengal’s chief minister held a press conference in Nabanna where she asked the citizens to get back to the Durga Puja festival mode. She said that no effort to malign and conspire against Bengal’s greatest festival Durga Puja would be tolerated. She asked the junior doctors to join work.

Many people were stunned by the CM’s comment. Actor and junior doctor Kinjal Nanda, who has been protesting for one month, told the media, “I think people will not accept the way she insulted and disregarded our movement. People will decide whether the festival will happen or not.”

Regarding the CM’s speech, Kinjal said, “It is painful to hear what she said. I think it is needless for me to say anything about those subjects. Common people see and understand everything.”

In the press conference at Nabanna, the CM said, “You remain on the streets every night. Many people get disturbed, including old people. Their sleep gets disturbed by a mic. The Pollution Control Board ruled that no mic can be played after 10 pm, and the decibel limits are set. We are not saying anything.”
