Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep’s Max is, undoubtedly, one of the most keenly awaited films, given that the actor has not been seen on the big screen since 2022’s Vikrant Rona. The film, produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu and directed by debutant Vijay Kartikeya has been ready and awaiting a good release window for several months now, and the most recent buzz was that a festival outing in early 2025 was on the cards.

However, on November 22, Karthik Gowda of KRG Studios, who will be distributing the film in Karnataka, took to social media to announce that Max was indeed round the corner, prompting speculation that the wait for the action thriller will be shorter than expected. A source indicates that Max is targeting an end of 2024 outing after all. But how is that possible when Real Star Upendra has booked the Christmas and New Year window for his UI?

Well, apparently, there is speculation that UI may get postponed further, as the VFX work on the film is still going on. Should that happen, Max will either swoop in and take its spot on December 20 or move a week ahead to December 27. Either which way, it will be December release is what the source says, adding that the official confirmation will happen soon, or latest by December 1, when promotions for the film will officially begin, with the first official media briefing in Bengaluru.

Max has Sudeep in cop mode again, with a synopsis available online hinting that he plays a hot-headed officer, who has to deal with an explosive situation shortly after resuming office following a suspension. Details about the film have been kept firmly under wraps, but the teaser that came out months ago hints at it being high on action.

Ajaneesh Loknath, who’d worked on the music of Vikrant Rona, is the composer of Max too, while Samyukta Hornad, Pramod Shetty, Ugramm Manju and Sukrutha Wagle are among the other cast members from the Kannada film industry. The film also stars Telugu actor Sunil, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Redin Kingsley, etc.
