Max, the first release of Kiccha Sudeep in over two years, premiered on Christmas 2024 and quickly became the highest-grossing film of the year in Kannada cinema. It was made available on OTT platforms five days ago. Directed by Vijay Kartikeyaa, the film had a simultaneous premiere on television and OTT on February 15 at 7:30 PM. Since its release, it has consistently ranked as the No. 1 trending movie on Zee5 in India, where it is accessible in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam audio.

Max beats Mrs

In its rise to become the most trending film in the country, Max surpassed the direct-to-OTT release Mrs, featuring Sanya Malhotra, which was launched on February 7. Directed by Arati Kadav, Mrs is the Hindi adaptation of the critically acclaimed Malayalam film, The Great Indian Kitchen. While the original, helmed by Jeo Baby, garnered significant attention and viewership following its streaming debut, Mrs has also been positively received, despite some narrative adjustments made for Hindi audiences.

Notably, while Max has secured the top position on Zee5's trending movies list, the remainder of the list is filled with popular new titles. Among the top 10 is Kiccha Sudeep’s 2022 film Vikrant Rona, which was his last project before Max. Vikrant Rona marked Sudeep’s first collaboration with director Anup Bhandari, known for Rangitaranga, and achieved moderate success. Although Sudeep's performance received acclaim, the film's connection to the Rangitaranga universe and its similarities to the director's debut did not resonate as well with audiences.

Sudeep is set to collaborate with Anup for his upcoming film, Billa Ranga Baashaa. The actor announced on February 18 that production will commence in the second week of March. Currently, both Sudeep and Anup are engaged in the Celebrity Cricket League, with the 2025 season concluding in March 2025. Billa Ranga Baashaa, produced by Primeshow Entertainment, the team behind HanuMan, is reportedly being developed as a two-part film. The production has secured a lease for 4 acres of land for a duration of four years, where specialized sets will be constructed, as the narrative is set two centuries into the future.
