Khatta Meetha debuted on the big screen 14 years ago. Priyadarshan directed the political-satirical comedy, marking yet another collaboration with Akshay Kumar and the Hindi film debut of Trisha. The 2010 release is the Hindi remake of the filmmaker's 1988 film Vellanakalude Nadu. Known for its hilarious scenes, now is the right time to revisit Khatta Meetha on OTT. You can stream the film on Prime Video, ShemarooMe (OTTplay Premium), and Lionsgate Play (OTTplay Premium).

Khatta Meetha main plot

In the film, Sachin Tichkule (Akshay Kumar) is a contractor going through tough times. He has trouble making peace with the corrupt local bureaucracy and has poor relationships with both his family and ex-girlfriend. As a result, he gets into a lot of trouble and loses touch with his closest relatives. But just when he starts to change for the better, he gets a visit from the law.

The ambitious but berkish road contractor Sachin Tichkule from Satara overcomes numerous obstacles in his life. He chooses to sue the Municipal Corporation when they withhold his money. When he finds out that the new municipal commissioner is actually his ex-girlfriend (Trisha), things go downhill quickly. Before he decides to stand up for himself, Sachin faces a number of challenges in his life, including a family problem, the animosity of an ex-girlfriend, his sister's marriage, and the pursuit of a vicious, corrupt politician.

Supporting cast members include Neeraj Vora, Jaideep Ahlawat, Manoj Joshi, Urvashi Sharma, Aruna Irani, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, Johnny Lever, Aruna Irani, Urvashi Sharma, and Makarand Deshpande.

Trisha's Bollywood debut

Earlier, while talking about making her Bollywood debut with Khatta Meetha, Trisha told IANS, "I don't regret it because it's a baby step in Bollywood, and I would not have gotten a better package. It had a big director and a big hero, and I am happy with it."

The actor went on to say that some people thought she wouldn't be a good commissioner on screen. It is recommended that the commissioner be somewhat older. It was, in a sense, highly indirect praise. A commissioner, in her opinion, ought to project an air of maturity.

In Trisha's role as commissioner, her friends were forthright in their criticisms. As a college student, they like her. Since she has never attempted anything like it before, it was a gamble. Despite playing numerous roles, including those in the South, the actor has never taken on a role of this type before.
