Khalid Rahman, known for directing cool films like Unda and Thallumaala, is teaming up with Naslen K Gafoor, famous for Premalu, for a sports comedy called Alappuzha Gymkhana. Ganapathi is also part of the cast in an important role, and the team has just dropped his character poster for the film.

Ganapathi, known for his awesome role in the Manjummel Boys, is gearing up to play Deepak Panikkar in Alappuzha Gymkhana. In the character poster, he’s rocking some sporty gear and gloves, looking fierce in a boxing stance.

The creators described Deepak as someone who is 'Independent by nature, heroic by choice' in the caption.

The film also stars Lukman Avaran in a significant role alongside Naslen and Ganapathi. The creators previously announced that Lukman will portray Antony Joshua, who is characterized as a "National champ and relentless coach" in his character poster.

Joining them are Sandeep Pradeep, Franco Francis, Baby Jean, and Karthik, all of whom are depicted in their character posters as members of the boxing team. Interestingly, the Alappuzha Gymkhana team has yet to release the character poster for lead actor Naslen, although he does appear in the first-look poster of this sports comedy. 

Vishnu Vijay's soundtrack for Alappuzha Gymkhana

Khalid Rahman teamed up with Sreeni Saseendran to write the script for Alappuzha Gymkhana. The film's music will be handled by Vishnu Vijay, who previously worked with Khalid on Thallumaala, featuring Tovino Thomas and Kalyani Priyadarshan. Fun fact: Vishnu also composed the music for Premalu, which had Naslen and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles.

The tracks from both Thallumaala and Premalu really resonated with the youth, so it'll be exciting to see what Vishnu Vijay brings to the table for Alappuzha Gymkhana.

Jimshi Khalid is on board as the cinematographer, and Nishadh Yusuf is taking care of the editing. The film is being produced by Khalid Rahman, Jobin George, Sameer Karat, and Subeesh Kannanchery.

There are rumors that Alappuzha Gymkhana might hit theaters by the end of March 2025, which could put it in direct competition with Prithviraj’s L2 Empuraan, starring Mohanlal.
