Khalid Rahman, known for his captivating films like Unda and Thallumaala, is getting ready to launch his latest project, Alappuzha Gymkhana. This film features Naslen, famous for his role in Premalu, as the main character. With the release date set for March 28, 2025, the director has shared some insights about the storyline of this Naslen-led sports comedy, offering a sneak peek into what audiences can look forward to. 

Khalid Rahman discusses Naslen's Alappuzha Gymkhana

In a recent chat with The Cue Studio, Khalid Rahman described the Naslen-led film Alappuzha Gymkhana as a fun and easygoing flick. He acknowledged that sports films often bring to mind classics like Rocky or Sarpatta Parambarai, but he emphasized that his new Malayalam movie focuses more on amateur boxing. “It’s not about intense violence or bloodshed,” he noted.

Khalid shared some details about the plot of the Naslen-starrer, mentioning that the film takes place in Alappuzha and revolves around a group of teens who don’t pass their plus two exams.

They aim to enroll in SD College Alappuzha and discover that participating in state-level sports events could earn them some grace marks. Plus, getting into college through the sports quota is a breeze, Khalid Rahman noted. This leads the teens to focus on boxing, and the movie captures their journey from there.

Khalid Rahman has previously directed some memorable films like Mammootty’s Unda and Tovino Thomas’s Thallumaala, both of which resonated well with viewers. Unda tells the story of a group of Kerala police officers sent to a Maoist-affected region for election duty, while Thallumaala follows the life of a young man named Wazim in northern Kerala.

On the flip side, Naslen has enjoyed great success with Premalu, which features Mamitha Baiju in the lead role. You can catch the Telugu-dubbed version of this romantic comedy on Aha and OTTPlay Premium. He also appeared in Super Sharanya, directed by Girish AD, who also directed Premalu. Super Sharanya is available for streaming on Zee5 and OTTplay Premium. Additionally, Naslen has delivered notable performances in films like Home and Jo & Jo.
