Empuraan box office collection on day 7: In spite of the controversies and mixed reviews, the Mohanlal-led film Empuraan continues to perform strongly at the Malayalam box office, achieving impressive earnings. However, the film, which was also released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, has not managed to replicate its success in these other languages. Let us examine the earnings of Empuraan in the non-Malayalam markets.
Empuraan BO collections in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada
Empuraan, directed by Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran, premiered in theaters on March 27, 2025, receiving mixed feedback. Despite the surrounding controversies, the Malayalam version of the film made a significant impact at the box office, grossing Rs 76.58 crore within its first week, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
In contrast, the other dubbed versions have not come close to matching the success of the Malayalam release, remaining firmly in single-digit earnings, with the Kannada version failing to surpass the Rs 1-crore threshold.
The Tamil version of the sequel to Lucifer ranks second, with net collections of only Rs 2.64 crore. The Telugu version has accumulated Rs 2.34 crore in net box office earnings over the same period, while the Hindi version follows with Rs 1.98 crore. The Kannada version, however, is at the bottom of the list, with a mere Rs 0.19 crore, as reported on the Sacnilk website.
The team behind Empuraan, spearheaded by Prithviraj Sukumaran, made extensive efforts to promote the second installment of the popular Lucifer trilogy.

During promotional activities in other states, Prithviraj emphasized that Tamil and Telugu audiences should opt for the dubbed versions instead of the original Malayalam. He highlighted the meticulous process involved in ensuring the quality of the dubbed films. Nevertheless, the box office results from non-Malayalam regions suggest that these promotional efforts have not resonated with audiences in those areas.
Conversely, the global earnings of Empuraan have reached an impressive Rs 122 crore across various languages. In India, the gross collection amounts to Rs 92 crore, whereas the overseas revenue totals Rs 30 crore.
