Filmmaker Karan Johar recently responded to negative comments and trolls who targeted him for nepotism in the industry. Notably, this is not the first time Karan has been entangled in a controversy related to nepotism and favoritism. The acclaimed director on Sunday hit back at the trolls with a lengthy note on social media relating to Vasan Bala’s viral interview. Alia Bhatt, who is currently gearing up for Vasan Bala’s action thriller, also received flak from fans on Karan’s post.

Karan Johar breaks silence on Vasan Bala’s recent comment

Karan has finally broken his silence on Alia Bhatt’s casting in Vasan Bala’s upcoming action film. For the unversed, Vasan shared in an interview that he was quite dissatisfied with Karan as he forwarded an unedited Jigra script to Alia Bhatt without telling him. He also added that if he had been aware of Karan’s decision, he would have edited it to remove grammatical errors before forwarding the script.

Taking to his Instagram on Sunday (October 6), the My Name is Khan director responded to the hate comments with a lengthy note. Addressing the misrepresentation of Bala’s comment, Karan shared a photo of a person keeping a finger on their lips with a text that said, “We have to be strong to ensure our life is stable enough to shut some negative people’s mouth. –I’m, Salmiah.”

He also shared a long caption while reflecting on the negative comments and reactions on social media. A part of his caption said, “Social media is like the Loch ness monster it’s gets to you even when you can’t see it.. so was flooded with Vasan Bala’s interview, which he answered with pure innocence and so much love … the grave misinterpretation of his comment about me sending the script to Alia without his grammar checks made me laugh initially at the ludicrousness of it all but now is truly annoying me.”

Karan also added that Vasan is one of the most talented filmmakers and urged people to hear and read the entire interview before turning to clickbait assumptions.

While speaking to Tried&Refused Productions earlier, Vasan shared, “I had written a very kachha pakka email, stream of consciousness thoughts… sent it to Karan and 6-7 hours later, he called saying that I have already sent it to Alia and I was really not happy with it. I was like I would have at least done some spell check, grammar check, hygiene, written some very nice hero entry."
