It featured Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan in the lead roles as reincarnated brothers. Recently, in an interview, Rakesh revealed how he brought on board two big Bollywood actors as leads for the characters of Karan and Arjun.

Both Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan were at the height of their acting careers when Karan Arjun came out. Rakesh Roshan successfully brought them together as the leads for a film, a feat no other filmmaker could match. In a recent interview, the filmmaker discussed this success.
During a conversation with, Rakesh Roshan revealed that when he was writing the script, he made sure to balance it out. When he wrote 10 scenes for one actor, he made sure to give another actor also 10 scenes.
“Agar iska ek gaana hai toh uska bhi ek gaana hai. I balanced the whole script and when I narrated it to them, Unko bolne ka mauka hi nahi mila ke uska role zyada accha hai ya mera aisa kyun hai.” (If Salman had a song, Shah Rukh also had a song. I wrote the entire script, balanced it out, and then narrated it to them. So, they did not even get a chance to feel that the other actor had a better role or more screen presence. They were instantly convinced),” he added.
