Dulquer Salmaan is joining hands with Rana Daggubati for his upcoming multi-lingual project, which has been titled Kaantha. The project, directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, is touted to be a period drama set in the 1950s. As reported earlier, Dulquer Salmaan is playing the lead role in the film and co-producing it, along with Rana Daggubati. Kaantha features Bhagyashri Borse and Samuthirakani, in the other key roles. The highly anticipated project was officially launched today, with a Pooja ceremony.

Rana Daggubati, who is co-producing Kaantha along with Dulquer Salmaan under his banner Spirit Media, took to his X handle and shared some pictures from the Pooja ceremony, and made a special announcement. “Introducing KAANTHA, an epic pic collaboration with my friend @dulQuer! @SpiritMediaN and @DQsWayfarerFilms brings to you a story that blends artistic storytelling and innovative filmmaking. Puja completed, can’t wait to start rolling,” wrote the actor-producer in his post.
As per the latest updates, the pooja ceremony, which was held in Hyderabad today, was attended by Dulquer Salmaan, Rana Daggubati, Samuthirakani, Bhagyashri Borse, director Selvamani Selvaraj, and others. The team was joined by a few selected guests, including Venkatesh Daggubati, producers Swapna Dutt Chalasani, Priyanka Dutt, Rana’s wife Miheeka Bajaj, and many others. More updates on the film are expected to be out in a few days.
Kaantha: Here’s what we know
The Selvamani Selvaraj directorial is set in 1950s Madras and revolves around the complexities of human relationships and the major societal changes that happened during this period in history. Kaanthi is being made as a multi-lingual film, and will be simultaneously released in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada. Dulquer Salmaan is appearing as the protagonist in the film, which features Samuthirakani in a pivotal role. Bhagyashri Borse appears as the female lead in the period drama. The team is yet to finalise the rest of the star cast and technical crew of the film.
