It is that season once again when all paths in Sandalwood converge on Puneeth Rajkumar. Continuing a tradition established following the Power Star's passing in 2021, Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar has been reintroducing his late mother Parvathamma Rajkumar's home productions to theaters in honor of the late actor's birthday. Last year, she re-released the film Jackie, and this year, in celebration of his 50th birth anniversary, it is time to revisit his debut as a leading actor.

Appu

In 2002, thirteen years after his last appearance as a child artist, Puneeth Rajkumar made his leading man debut in the film Appu, directed by Puri Jagannadh. This romantic action drama, which featured debutante Rakshita alongside him, became an immense success, enjoying a theatrical run of 200 days. The film was subsequently remade in Telugu as Idiot, in Tamil as Dum, and in Bengali as Hero.

In Appu, Puneeth portrayed the title character, a name that has since become synonymous with him, as fans have affectionately referred to him as Appu ever since. The narrative follows an aspiring police officer, the son of a constable, who falls in love with the daughter of the city commissioner, a romance that nearly jeopardizes his career aspirations. Will Appu achieve his ambitions and win the heart of his beloved?

PonMan

The Malayalam dark comedy, featuring Basil Joseph, Saijin Gopu, and Lijomol Jose in leading roles, revolves around a small-time gold dealer who provides bridal jewelry to families unable to afford such expenses upfront, requiring them to repay with the monetary gifts received during the wedding reception. The central conflict arises when one family fails to fulfill their payment obligation, driving the story forward.

The film will be available in Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu audio.

Agent

Akhil Akkineni's most recent theatrical release, Agent, which premiered almost two years ago and was a significant box office disappointment, has faced numerous unsuccessful efforts to secure an OTT release. SonyLIV acquired the digital streaming rights for the film, which features Mammootty in an important role; however, conflicts between the production company and distributors resulted in several postponements. The streaming platform has now revealed a new release date, and it appears that Agent will finally be accessible for streaming.
