In contemporary times, when an innovative and experimental film with substantial content garners favorable word-of-mouth yet struggles to gain popularity, the prevailing sentiment on social media suggests that audiences are oblivious to such films due to insufficient marketing efforts and a lack of prominent stars in either the cast or crew. Many netizens believe that content alone is not sufficient to attract viewers.

Niveditha Shivarajkumar: A good production house and marketing budget will help to a certain degree only

Niveditha Shivarajkumar is set to unveil her debut feature film production in theaters on April 24, 2025. She asserts that the allure of quality content remains significant. “If a film is well-made and aims to reach a specific audience, it will find its way to them, regardless of the medium—be it theaters, OTT platforms, or television. Eventually, it will connect with its viewers. However, this does not imply that films should be withheld from theatrical releases. While having a reputable production house and a substantial marketing budget can be beneficial, a film that lacks quality will ultimately struggle to succeed,” Niveditha remarked during her discussion with the Kannada Filmy Club.

As a first-time producer, she acknowledges that despite her esteemed lineage and the support of her father, Century Star Shivarajkumar, who is not only presenting the film but also making a cameo appearance, she must still focus on effectively reaching audiences and encouraging them to visit theaters. Both she and director Vamshi recognize that the presence of Shivarajkumar's name alone will not guarantee immediate attendance at theaters.

It is important to acknowledge that not every film that is released captures our attention. Over the past few months, approximately 80 to 90 Kannada films have been launched. However, how many have we actually seen? Most of us have only viewed a handful; I personally have seen around three or four. We need to encourage audiences to return to theaters and maintain a steady output of quality content. This current trend of low theater attendance is temporary, and we will overcome it, but it is essential that we continue to produce excellent films, Niveditha remarked.
