Kanguva on OTT: Suriya's film gets cut by 13 minutes

The Tamil film Kanguva, released in 2024, made its debut on OTT platforms just three weeks after its theatrical release on Prime Video. Nevertheless, it appears that viewers will not have access to the complete version, as 13 minutes of the film have been edited out.

At the time of its theatrical debut, Kanguva faced significant trolling and adverse criticism. Directed by Siva, the film was anticipated to meet high expectations but ultimately did not resonate with the audience. Although the rationale behind the decision to shorten the film remains unclear, the streaming version has reduced the segments featuring Suriya and Disha Patani.

Kanguva: These are the parts trimmed

Kanguva presents a narrative that intricately blends elements of the past and present, featuring Suriya in the dual roles of a warrior prince and a bounty hunter. The plot unfolds as a young boy seeks out the bounty hunter, prompting a journey back to the protagonist's days as a warrior prince of his island clan. The streaming version of Kanguva has omitted certain segments involving Yogi Babu and Disha Patani, who are depicted in contemporary scenes. This includes the Yolo song, interactions between Disha Patani and Suriya, as well as culturally significant references such as The Boys and Moye Moye. Nevertheless, viewers engaging with the film on OTT platforms appear largely unfazed by these omissions, despite Kanguva's inability to resonate with streaming audiences.

Produced by Studio Green, Kanguva features music composed by Devi Sri Prasad. The film was released in theatres on November 19 and includes performances by Disha Patani, Bobby Deol, Natty, and Karunas, among others. Karthi makes a notable cameo towards the conclusion, hinting at the possibility of a sequel in development.
