Kanguva, the period fantasy film hit the theatres as the biggest release in its leading man Suriya’s career. When it comes to Kerala, Siva’s film made an impressive box office opening by collecting over Rs 3.8 crore on Day 1. However, Kanguva has fallen flat at the Kerala box office on Day 2 owing to the negative reviews. Meanwhile, the previously released other language films – Dulquer Salmaan’s Lucky Baskhar and Sivakarthikeyan starrer Amaran - are back to prominence with a greater number of screens.
Kanguva Kerala box office Day 2 prediction: Suriya’s film falls flat
If the recent updates are to be believed, Suriya and director Siva’s ambitious film has fallen flat at the Kerala box office, despite getting an excellent start. Kanguva has reportedly witnessed around 96 percent dip in its Kerala theatre occupancy on Day 2, owing to the negative reviews and the lack of word-of-mouth publicity. The Suriya starrer, which collected around Rs 3.8 crore from the state on its Day 1, might not be able to achieve the breakeven in Kerala, considering the current trends.
Lucky Baskhar, Amaran get more screens in Kerala after Kanguva fails
For the uninitiated, the previous other language releases of recent times, Lucky Baskhar and Amaran, have been enjoying a successful run at the Kerala box office. However, the screen counts of both the Dulquer Salmaan starrer and Sivakarthikeyan’s film were drastically reduced this week, as Suriya’s Kanguva had a massive release in the state. However, now things have changed after the Siva directorial failed miserably at the Kerala box office.
According to the latest updates, both Lucky Baskhar and Amaran are now getting a greater number of screens across Kerala, after the Kanguva debacle. Both the Venky Atluri directorial and Rajkumar Periasamy’s film have been receiving immense love from the Kerala audiences, and are expected to continue their glorious run at the theatres, for a few more weeks. Kanguva, on the other hand, is confirmed to witness a massive drop in its screen count from Day 2, which is definitely to impact the film’s box office collection, negatively.
