Kangana announces a new release date for Emergency
Today, on November 18, Kangana Ranaut took to her social media account and shared a new poster of Emergency. The poster features her as the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, along with Vishak Nair as Indira's son Sanjay Gandhi. The poster also features Anupam Kher as Janata Party leader Jai Prakash Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and Milind Soman as Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw.
Sharing the poster, the Queen actress wrote in the caption, "17th January 2025: The epic saga of the nation’s most powerful woman and the moment that altered India’s destiny. #Emergency – Unveils Only in Cinemas on 17.01.2025!”
Emergency will now hit the theatres on January 17, 2025.
Emergency delves into the life of the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. It will showcase a 21-month emergency period from 1975 to 1977. The biographical political thriller has previously been embroiled in multiple controversies, including backlash from several Sikh groups and objections against the film that compelled the Central Board of Film Certification to withdraw its certification.
Earlier, while talking about the delay in the release date of her film, Kangana told ANI, “I know how I made this film. I did not get any support from the film industry. It's made on a huge budget. I, along with Zee and other partners, created Emergency, and now with the release delay, everyone is bearing a huge loss. Delay release is a loss for all. I think the Censor Board should take the responsibility to release this film at the earliest.”
Directed and written by Ranaut, the film is backed by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films.
Emergency OTT platform
The film will stream on Netflix after its theatrical run.
