Kakuda: Sonakshi Sinha, Riteish Deshmukh's spooky comedy achieves THIS milestone within three days of release

Filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar had two film releases this year. Interestingly, both movies belonged to the same genre. After Munjya's success, Sarpotdar's spooky comedy Kakuda had its OTT release. The film, starring Sonakshi Sinha, Riteish Deshmukh, and Saqib Saleem, dropped on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium on July 12, 2024. Within three days of its release, Kakuda has achieved a milestone on the streaming platform. The film also features Aasif Khan.

Kakuda achieves THIS milestone on ZEE5!

The streamer shared an update about Kakuda's milestone on social media. It has been revealed that Aditya's horror comedy film crossed over 100 million watch minutes on the platform. The makers dropped a poster and highlighted the film's achievement all over it. The caption to their Instagram post read, "It was indeed a fun and chilling weekend, with Kakuda taking over! Over 100 million watch minutes just on the launch weekend! #Kakuda streaming now, only on ZEE5 (sic)."

In Kakuda, Sonakshi Sinha plays the role of Indira, who isn't scared of ghosts. She elopes with Saqib Saleem aka Sunny to get married. Unfortunately, their chosen day of marriage is Tuesday. As Sunny fails to keep the small door open at 7:15 pm, he gets kicked by Kakuda. Amid this, Indira seeks help from ghost hunter Victor (played by Riteish).

In an interview with The Indian Express, Sonakshi Sinha shared her experience of working in Kakuda. The actress also revealed how she came on board for the spooky comedy. "Kakuda came to me and I just found it to be such a fun read. I was very entertained while reading the script. Although I don’t like horror films, there was so much humour in this film. Aditya (Sarpotdar) is someone who has understood this genre so well. I think his grasp on it is fantastic," she said. Sinha added that she had a blast while working on this movie.
