Narayan Sanyal wrote a detective series, popularly known as the Kaanta series. It was announced in 2022 that Zee5 would come up with a web series based on this. Directed by Joydeep Mukherjee, this series has a stellar star cast with Saswata Chatterjee, Ananya Chatterjee, Soham Chakraborty, Paayel Sarkar, Mir, and others. Barrister PK Basu will now solve several murder mysteries on the screen.  The first story is Sonar Kaanta. Its teaser was dropped recently.

The story shows PK Basu and his wife traveling to a hill station after his daughter dies. They board a homestay run by a couple they know. A murder happens there and PK Basu gets involved. The series will be released on August 15 on Zee-5. 

Saswata plays PK Basu and Ananya Chatterjee plays his wife. Paayel Sarkar, Prantik Banerjee, Joydeep Mukherjee, Mir Afsar Ali, Kinjal Nanda, and Soham Chakraborty will play other important roles. This is Soham's debut on the web.
