OTTplay, on September 9, reported that Soumitrisha Kundu would soon debut on OTT with Ayan Chakrabarti’s Kaalratri on Hoichoi. Now the OTT platform released the first look of the characters. Billed as a gripping murder mystery, the series also features Indrasish Ray, Rajdeep Gupta, Rupanjana Mitra, Sairity Banerjee, and Anujoy Chattopadhyay, among others, all of whom bring their unique talent to this ensemble.

Soumitrisha shared her excitement about the project. “Kaalratri is a special project for me, as it marks my web debut, as well as that with Hoichoi. The character of Devi is deeply layered, and I’m thrilled to bring her story to life in such a gripping narrative. I hope the audience connects with Devi and embraces me in this exciting new format as well,” she said. 

Ayan has penned the script. The story delves into the life of Devi (Soumitrisha). On the day of her wedding, an ominous prediction from her close friend Maya begins to unravel her seemingly perfect life. Maya's chilling prophecy about Devi’s husband’s death casts an eerie shadow over the festivities, setting the stage for a mystery that spirals into danger and intrigue. As the story progresses, Devi is drawn into a complex web of uncertainty, where every clue leads to deeper secrets.

Soumitrisha, known for her standout performances in Bengali television's highest TRP shows steps into the role of Devi, adding a layer of emotional depth and intensity to this suspenseful narrative. The series, directed and written by Ayan Chakraborti, promises a unique blend of Hoichoi's popular women-driven series and the immersive elements of a classic murder mystery.
