Written and directed by V. K. Prakash, Kaagaz 2, which premiered earlier this year, has expanded its availability by joining another OTT platform. Following its release on Prime Video and Disney+ Hotstar, the film is now also streaming on JioCinema (OTTplay Premium). Serving as a spiritual successor to the 2021 film Kaagaz, it features notable performances from Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Kiran Kumar, Smriti Kalra, Anang Desai, and the late Satish Kaushik. The production is a collaboration between Venus Worldwide Entertainment and Satish Kaushik Entertainment. Kaagaz 2 is based on the 2015 Malayalam film Nirnayakam, also directed by Prakash.
Themes of struggle and redemption
The narrative centers around two families. Uday, portrayed by Darshan Kumar, grapples with feelings of regret for not enlisting in the Indian Army, a decision influenced by his father's abandonment during his childhood. Meanwhile, a tragic incident unfolds during a political rally, affecting a father and his daughter, who is recognized as the top performer in the UPSC examinations. The film delves into a prolonged battle against governmental and influential forces. Will the father ultimately prevail? After years of separation, can Uday reconcile with his father? Will Uday fulfill his lifelong aspiration of becoming an army officer?

Positive critical reception
Kaagaz 2 had its premiere on March 1, 2024, receiving largely positive reviews from critics. This film serves as a tribute to Satish Kaushik, who passed away on March 9, 2023.
Producer Ratan Jain of Venus Films previously remarked that his relationship with Satish Kaushik dates back many years. They collaborated on several projects, and the late actor even directed a film for Jain's production company. Jain expressed a deep emotional connection to Kaagaz 2, believing that his dear friend Satish Kaushik would take pride in it.
He emphasized that the film's unique appeal lies in its message of allowing others to pursue their paths without hindrance. Jain also noted that political gatherings and protests often disrupt the daily lives of ordinary citizens due to the traffic congestion they create.
