Satyameva Jayate was originally a web series

John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate was called Raakh and was originally supposed to be a web show. John was freaked out and called Rohit Dhawan for consultation after Milap narrated the script to him. He loved the script but was unsure since Milap’s last movie did not work. Rohit asked John to watch the short film Raakh, after which the actor had agreed to work on Satyameva Jayate.

The movie was for Milap, John, and the producers too, since it was the biggest opener for all of them back then. Of course, things changed with Satyameva Jayate 2.

Talking about the sequel, Milap revealed to Siddharth Kannan that it happened in the middle of the pandemic and thus, many things were rewritten and changed. The film was ready in the beginning of 2021 but released by the end of the year.

The movie, as we already know, did not work at the box office. Milap takes responsibility and states that he failed everyone. The audiences did not come to theatres, and in the same month, Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi was released. This is why Milap did not want to release in the same month.

The box office predictions for Satyameva Jayate 2 were high, and the movie was released in theatres opposite Salman Khan and Aayush Sharma’s film, Antim: The Final Truth. Coming a day earlier worked against them too, since it wasn’t a holiday, and thus, nobody decided to come and watch the movie. He also believes in going wrong by taking John in a triple role. He got to know later that films that see actors in triple roles have never worked at the box office, not even if it is Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, or Rajinikanth.

After joking that despite giving John a triple role, none of those picked up his call after the Satyameva Jayate 2 release, Milap shared that he and John are in touch, but do not talk as much. He hopes to meet John for an action film. The director revealed that John did not talk to him for three months after Satyameva Jayate 2 was released. This is basically because he was sad about the movie not working, and thus, John went into a shell. Eventually, they hugged it out and John agreed to work with Milap again.

There were moments when John did not agree with how Milap went overboard, but eventually, he worked on Milap’s idea. The director felt he let down everyone with the movie. He also reveals that many people left his side, including Nikkhil Advani.
