Actor John Abraham discussed the rejection of his recent film, The Diplomat, by OTT platforms, which deemed it "not great." In an interview with Pinkvilla, John highlighted that one of the film's advantages is that audiences had no expectations prior to its release.

John Abraham spoke about his film and OTT platforms

The actor discussed the response of studios and OTT platforms to his film. John remarked, "A studio can lose confidence in a project. When a film is released and subsequently goes through various OTT platforms, a studio might choose to reduce its risk by distributing it to an OTT channel, especially if some platforms have declined to showcase The Diplomat due to their unfavorable assessment. They deemed it unsatisfactory... They rejected the film entirely."

John recalls people's reaction to The Diplomat

He also mentioned that viewers of The Diplomat approached him to express their admiration for the film. "With 'The Diplomat', we have successfully proven the studio, the OTT platforms, and everyone else wrong. The most remarkable aspect of The Diplomat is that expectations were at an all-time low. Instead of merely rising from two or three to a modest score, we jumped straight to a ten, leaving people astonished, saying, 'Wow, this is incredible.' I've had individuals tell me, 'Is the studio aware that they possess the best film of the last decade?' That, for me, is a significant achievement," he remarked.
