The days of big Bollywood clashes have returned, and the box office is certainly rejuvenated by the impressive numbers some films have pulled off, especially when the industry was being written off. After the big Stree 2 vs Vedaa vs Khel Khel Mein clash, the Hindi film industry is now set to witness another showdown—between the Alia Bhatt starrer Jigra and the Rajkummar Rao-led Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. Both movies, set to release this week, have been making headlines for different reasons. While the Vasan Bala directorial Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is highly anticipated, the Raaj Shaandilyaa-written and directed Jigra has been surrounded by some controversies. Both films have now received their Censor Certificates from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), and we've learned about the reported changes made to each.

Jigra and Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video Censor Certificate Details

For those unfamiliar, Jigra stars Vedang Raina and Manoj Pahwa alongside Alia Bhatt and is produced by Karan Johar and Bhatt. The film's trailer was well-received and garnered a lot of praise. On the other hand, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, is written and directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa. Its trailer received mixed responses and has been mired in some controversies. While Jigra passed the CBFC without any cuts, the Rao-starrer was ordered to make a few changes to some of its dialogues. Here are the details:

Jigra Ordered Zero Cuts by CBFC

According to Bollywood Hungama, the Alia Bhatt starrer Jigra had a smooth sail through the CBFC, with the movie passing without any cuts. Despite featuring some violent scenes and sequences, the CBFC did not demand a single change to the footage. However, the board did instruct the filmmakers to add an anti-drug disclaimer to two scenes that depict drug consumption. Other than that, there were no additional cuts or modifications required.

The Vasan Bala directorial has a runtime of 155 minutes (2 hours and 35 minutes), which is longer than most current releases. The film follows a prison-break drama about a sister's mission to rescue her brother from a prison in a foreign country. The trailer, teaser, and songs released so far hint at a deeply emotional narrative.

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video Ordered a Few Changes

According to the same report, the CBFC Examining Committee ordered a few audio cuts in Rajkummar Rao’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. The committee asked the filmmakers to either mute or replace certain words, such as 'Vakeel', 'Sardaar', 'UP Police', and 'Gurudwara'. Additionally, the term 'Haramipana' was muted/modified, and a dialogue containing the phrase 'Bahan ka...maroom' was censored. An anti-smoking disclaimer was also added to scenes featuring smoking characters. After these changes were made, the movie was cleared with a U/A certificate. The runtime of the film is 152 minutes and 5 seconds (2 hours, 32 minutes, and 5 seconds).

Both Jigra and Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video are set to release in theaters on October 11, 2024. Stay tuned to Mobile Masala for more updates on these films and everything else in the world of streaming and cinema.
