The box office, which we now measure in terms of the crores that a movie earns, was once counted in the weeks it managed to stay on the big screen and continue to be relevant. The ones that crossed 50 weeks were considered hits, and 75 weeks signified a blockbuster. For a film that managed to remain relevant for that long, it was certain that it would have earned a massive amount. This month marks the 28th anniversary of one such movie that released in 1996. The film starred Salman Khan and Sunny Deol together and was a blockbuster at the box office, remaining on the big screen for over 75 weeks. We are indeed talking about Jeet, a movie with a stellar cast backed by Sajid Nadiadwala that is celebrating its anniversary this month.
Jeet Turns 28
Jeet, directed by Raj Kanwar, is a 1996 film where Sunny Deol plays Karan, who works for a gangster named Gajraj, played by Amrish Puri. He falls in love with Kajal, played by Karisma Kapoor, but she is already married to Raju, played by Salman Khan. When Raju and Kajal come under threat from Gajraj, Karan gets his chance to win Kajal. But does he cross the line? Jeet also stars Tabu in a rather interesting role, and you will love it when you discover it.
Sajid Nadiadwala, in a special post, has now celebrated the film turning 28. He took to social media and shared a picture showing a massive crowd gathered outside the theater to watch Jeet. This indeed speaks volumes about the kind of craze the film generated at the time of its release. He further added a caption.
In the caption, he wrote, "Throwback to Jeet running successfully in theatres for 75 weeks! Revisiting this day today on the 28th Anniversary of Jeet (Victory Of Love)." Fans of the actors and the film have been showing love for the post. Check it out below.
