Thalapathy 69 is set to be Jana Nayagan! Vijay, one of India's biggest stars with a massive fan following, revealed last year that he would be retiring from acting to focus on full-time politics. He announced that Thalapathy 69 will be his final film before stepping away from his illustrious film career. On Sunday, January 26, the first look poster and title of the film were unveiled. Produced by KVN Productions, the upcoming film is directed by H Vinoth, marking his debut collaboration with the actor.

The highly anticipated announcement is finally here! Thalapathy 69, which is expected to be Vijay's final film before transitioning into full-time politics, has been titled Jana Nayagan. The first-look poster reveals Vijay clicking a selfie while his supporters stand behind him, dressed in white.

The title, which translates to "people's hero," is fitting for Vijay’s future in politics, especially as he has announced his intention to run in the upcoming 2026 elections.

In addition to Vijay, the film stars Pooja Hegde as the female lead, reuniting with the actor for the second time after the 2022 action-drama Beast. The cast also includes Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Gautham Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, and several others.

Is Jana Nayagan a remake of Bhagavanth Kesari?

There are growing speculations that Vijay’s film may be a remake of the Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, which starred Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role. However, the makers have yet to confirm or deny these rumours.

Jana Nayagan features music by Anirudh Ravichander, with Sathyan Sooryan ISC handling the cinematography. Anl Arasu is the action coordinator. The film is scheduled for release in October 2025.
