Thalapathy Vijay, who has been actively engaged in the political arena, is currently working on his final feature film, Jana Nayagan, in collaboration with director H Vinoth. The film is presently in the production phase, with the first look poster having been unveiled in January of this year. Initially slated for release in October 2025, it is now anticipated that the release of Jana Nayagan will be postponed to a later date.

Jana Nayagan release: Thalapathy Vijay’s film to receive a revised release window  

It has previously been reported that Jana Nayagan is the title of Vijay's forthcoming 69th film, coinciding with his recent announcement of a full-time commitment to politics. This film is expected to serve as the actor's swan song, as he shifts his focus towards his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. According to the latest updates, the filming of Jana Nayagan is projected to conclude by June. While the film was originally scheduled for an October 2025 release, the production team is now considering a January 2026 release, aligning with the Pongal festival. It is noteworthy that if Jana Nayagan is indeed released in 2026, it will coincide with the year in which Vijay's party will participate in elections, marking his political debut.

All we know about Jana Nayagan

In addition to Vijay, the film features Pooja Hegde in the role of the female lead, marking their second collaboration following the 2022 action-drama Beast. The cast also includes Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Gautham Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, among others.

Jana Nayagan is helmed by director H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions. The musical score for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while the cinematography is managed by Sathyan Sooryan ISC. Anl Arasu serves as the action coordinator.

Meanwhile, on the political front, Vijay had recently organised an Iftar party for the ongoing Ramadan season and had been strongly criticising the ruling party of Tamil Nadu, DMK, for its shortcomings. It will be interesting to see Vijay’s political career in 2026.
