Following a doctor's recommendation to return home after receiving a cortisone injection, Foxx's sister, Deidra Dixon, remained concerned about his condition and took him to Piedmont Hospital. There, the family learned that he had experienced a brain bleed that resulted in a stroke.

Prior to the release of the special, there were reports suggesting that Foxx would implicate rapper P Diddy in his narrative. However, he refrains from taking that path, instead making a lighthearted remark about encountering the Devil—or perhaps Diddy—when he “saw the tunnel.”
