An Indian rendition of The Tourist, starring Jamie Dornan, is in the works. Banijay Asia has acquired the rights to produce a local adaptation of the series through an agreement with distributor All3Media International.

Synopsis of the original series, The Tourist

Dornan plays a man who, following a car accident in Australia, awakens with amnesia in The Tourist, a screenplay co-written by Harry and Jack Williams. The logline states that he meets a local woman who remembers him and offers to help him rediscover his identity. He is seeking answers, and the story continues. The limited information he has suggests that he has a troubled past that he needs to leave behind before it finds him. The second season of the show, which premiered earlier this year, transports the characters to Ireland as the mystery continues to unfold.

Highview Productions and Two Brothers Pictures were the original producers of the series. Banijay Asia and EndemolShine India's group chief development officer, Mrinalini Jain, expressed the company's admiration for Two Brothers and their electrifying works. They think The Tourist will strike a chord with audiences because of the original way it combines mystery and suspense. It is with enormous pleasure that they present to the Indian audience an adaptation of this riveting and well-lauded series. Working with All3Media International enables them to bring an authentic Indian flavour while preserving the original's high standards.

Sabrina Duguet, EVP for Asia Pacific at All3Media International, said that they are delighted to see it adapted for the Indian market, adding that The Tourist has been a fantastic hit globally. They have faith that Banijay Asia, with its stellar history of producing top-notch local adaptations, will deliver a fantastic take on this much-loved thriller. They are excited to watch the story's reimagining for Indian audiences.

The Night Manager, Call My Agent, and The Trial are just a few of the shows that Banijay Asia has adapted in the past for Indian viewers.
