In July 2023, the producers of Superstar Rajinikanth's film Jailer were urged to consider a different title for their movie, particularly in Kerala, due to the existence of a Malayalam film with the same name that was planning a similar release. However, the filmmakers of Nelson's project did not comply, and both films ultimately pursued legal action, leading to an out-of-court settlement. The Malayalam film, directed by Sakkir Madathil, reportedly had registered its title prior to the public announcement of the Tamil film's name, but ultimately decided to withdraw from the dispute, opting to release in theaters one week after the debut of Rajinikanth's Jailer.

Released in theaters on August 18, 2023, the Malayalam film Jailer received mixed reviews. While the film's core concept and Dhyan Sreenivasan's performance were praised, critics noted several shortcomings in its overall execution, which contributed to a lackluster box office performance. Sakkir reported that theater owners were hesitant to screen his film due to the success of Rajinikanth's Tamil movie. Consequently, the film struggled to secure an OTT distribution deal and remained unavailable until now.

Dhyan Sreenivasan's Jailer is set to premiere on ManoramaMAX.

Earlier today, ManoramaMAX announced that it will be streaming Dhyan's Jailer starting on April 4, 2025. The film, featuring Dhyan in the lead role, is inspired by the true story of a jailer in 1950s Kerala who strives to rehabilitate murder convicts. The narrative delves into the challenges he encounters, including attempts by the inmates to escape and disrupt his efforts.

Dhyan is accompanied by a cast that includes Manoj K Jayan, Sreejith Ravi, Binu Adimali, Navas Vallikunnu, Tiju Mathew, Unni Raja, and Divya Pillai, among others. Sakkir is recognized as the writer of the film. Since that time, Dhyan has appeared in several films, such as Varshangalkku Shesham, Malayalee From India, Anand Sreebala, and Machante Maalakha, among others; however, these releases have seen minimal success.
