Jailer, the 2023-released action thriller marked Rajinikanth’s first collaboration with talented filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar. The movie broke almost every pre-existing box office record of Tamil cinema and emerged as one of the all-time blockbusters of the industry. Later, it was confirmed that the actor-director duo is set to reunite for the second installment in the franchise, which has been titled Jailer 2. Now, popular actor Yogi Babu, who plays a pivotal role in the franchise, has dropped major updates on the sequel.

Yogi Babu opens up about Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2

In a recent chat with a Tamil YouTube channel Cineulagam, Yogi Babu extensively spoke about his successful collaborations with filmmakers. The actor-comedian, who opened up about his combination with Nelson Dilipkumar, stated that he has been a part of the filmmaker’s journey right from the latter’s debut project, Kolamavu Kokila. Interestingly, Yogi Babu confirmed that they are set to team up again for Jailer 2, the sequel to Nelson’s previous outing Jailer which features superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role. According to the celebrated actor, comedy is very tough to crack. However, director Nelson wrote special tracks for Yogi Babu in all his films, and Jailer 2 is the latest addition to the list. However, the actor-comedian refrained from revealing more details about the upcoming Rajinikanth starrer and his character in the film. But, from Yogi Babu’s words, it is safe to assume that the talented actor is going to have a very interesting part in Jailer 2, which is unarguably one of the most anticipated upcoming projects in Tamil cinema. 

All about Jailer 2

Rajinikanth is set to reprise his celebrated character, Muthuvel Pandian IPS in the highly anticipated project. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are expected to return as Mathew and Narasimha in the sequel, along with many new surprise additions to the star cast. Earlier, it was rumorued that Jailer 2 will be a crossover sequel, which will also have characters from the world of director Nelson’s debut film Kolamavu Kokila. In that case, Nayanthara might also be a part of the upcoming project. Anirudh Ravichander is composing music for the film, which is  bankrolled by Sun Pictures.
