Unni Mukundan's film Marco had a solid performance at the box office and finally made its highly anticipated debut on Sony Liv on February 13, 2025. Directed by Haneef Adeni, the movie features Jagadish in a devious role as Tony Issac, who, along with his son Russell, goes all out against Marco's family. This is quite a shift from the comedic characters Jagadish played in classics like Godfather and In Harihar Nagar back in the 90s. Now that Marco is available for streaming, Jagadish mentioned that the majority of the feedback on his villainous character has been positive, with only about 10 percent being negative. In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, he remarked that while viewers might despise the ruthless Tony Issac, he wonders why they should hate him at all.

Jagadish replied to Marco

Jagadish, who took on the role of the ruthless villain Tony Issac, shared with OTTplay that he’s been getting a lot of messages from people after they watched Marco on SonyLiv.

Marco has been getting a ton of reactions on OTT. Those who missed it in theaters are reaching out to me now after catching it online. About 90% of the feedback has been really positive, but there’s a small 10% that isn’t. Some folks are telling me I shouldn’t be playing this kind of role. I think it’s because they like me and can’t picture me in a negative light,” Jagadish explained, noting his recent roles in more morally ambiguous characters.

“I want to explore all kinds of roles, including those with a darker edge. They can dislike Tony Issac, but why direct that at Jagadish? That’s what I’m curious about,” he added.

Jagadish shared his thoughts on the negative feedback he's received, saying, "I don't really question what people think. Everyone has their own tastes. But I'm actually relieved that only 10 percent feel that way. If it were any higher, I might have been bothered. The other 90 percent has been really supportive and gives me the confidence to explore different kinds of roles."

Known for his comedic roles in the 90s, Jagadish has taken on more serious or complex characters in films like Neru, Falimy, Purusha Pretham, and Rorschach since 2020.

Jagadish mentioned that he's super excited to take on a variety of roles. “When you think about the top actors in Hollywood, they tackle all sorts of characters. I haven’t turned down any such opportunities – I’m all in for the challenge,” he shared.

His newest film, Officer on Duty, featuring Kunchacko Boban, has received mostly positive feedback.

You can catch Unni Mukundan's action-packed thriller Marco on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium right now.
