Sunny Deol is poised to appear in Gopichand Malineni's upcoming film, Jaat, following the success of his blockbuster Gadar 2. After the teaser's release, the film's trailer was unveiled on March 24. This action-packed movie is anticipated to be one of Deol's most significant projects to date. During the trailer launch event, Sunny shared insights on various topics and subtly suggested the possibility of establishing a presence in the South Indian film industry while discussing it.
Sunny Deol on South films
At the launch of the trailer for the forthcoming film, Jaat, Sunny Deol expressed his admiration for South Indian cinema and suggested the possibility of relocating there.
He remarked, "My producers are exceptional. I wish the producers in Bombay would take notes from them. While you refer to it as Bollywood, it is more appropriate to call it Hindi cinema and learn how to create films with passion from South filmmakers. They concentrate on the subject, collaborate closely with the director, trust his vision, and spare no effort in realizing it. The narrative is paramount for them. I truly enjoyed collaborating with everyone involved. I even told the filmmakers, 'Let’s create another film together.' Perhaps I will consider settling down there in the South."
The actor emphasized that South Indian films encompass these essential elements, which contribute to their pan-India appeal. He noted that audiences from all regions of the country can connect with them. He advocates for a similar approach in Hindi cinema, urging a return to foundational themes. "For example, we should create films akin to Ghatak, Damini, and Arjun once more," he remarked.
Jaat trailer
The trailer for Jaat depicts Randeep Hooda in a menacing role reminiscent of Raavana, who exerts control over the entire village. The character asserts, "No one can enter this Lanka," adding, "Even God fears to come here." Following this, Sunny Deol makes his entrance as Jaat, ready to take action.
Jaat boasts an impressive cast, featuring Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar Singh, and others in significant roles. The film is produced by prominent production companies, Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory. The music is crafted by the talented Thaman S, with cinematography by Rishi Punjabi, editing by Navin Nooli, and production design overseen by Avinash Kolla.
Jaat is set to be released in theatres on April 10, 2025.
