The Bollywood film Jaat, featuring Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda, has ignited controversy since its release on April 10. Members of the Christian community have voiced their objections to a particular scene in which Randeep is depicted inside a church, prompting calls for the film's ban.

Christian community demands ban on Jaat

The contentious scene portrays Randeep standing within a church, positioned beneath a crucifix above the pulpit. Additionally, another segment shows congregation members engaged in prayer. This clip includes references to violence occurring within the church, which the community finds deeply offensive. This scene was included in the film's trailer.

Numerous representatives from the Christian community have voiced their strong disapproval, asserting that the film's depiction has offended their religious beliefs and disrespected the sanctity of the church's pulpit. A video has surfaced showing protestors chanting slogans such as ‘Randeep Hooda murdabad.’

Initially, the Christian community intended to stage protests outside theaters screening Jaat; however, police intervention thwarted these plans. Consequently, community representatives have submitted a memorandum to the Joint Commissioner, requesting a ban on the film's theatrical release and legal action against the cast and crew for allegedly offending their religious sentiments. They have issued a 48-hour ultimatum, threatening protests if their demands are not met.
