Jaat Day 1 Box Office Prediction: Sunny Deol Eyes 2nd Biggest Opening, Trails Sikandar by 60%
7 days ago | 5 Views
Sunny Deol is back with his dhaai kilo ka haath in his first pan-India actioner, Jaat. The action adventure, being bankrolled by South's Mythri Movie Makers, is being billed as Sunny's Jawan/Sikandar, i.e., his entry into the South market. Since the film follows the success of Gadar 2, expectations are high. Yet, the box office buzz seems to be moderate so far.
Jaat booking report
Advance ticket sales for Jaat concluded on Wednesday evening, with the Sunny Deol-led film generating only ₹2.37 crore in pre-sales for its opening day throughout India, as reported by Sacnilk. This amount is relatively modest, especially given the film's promotion as a pan-India action feature. In comparison, Sunny's earlier release, Gadar 2, achieved ₹17.60 crore in bookings before its 2023 launch. Jaat has not managed to secure ₹1 crore in advance sales in any significant regions except for the NCR, which raises concerns.
Jaat box office day 1 prediction
Despite the low advance ticket sales, one advantage for Jaat is that mass action films typically experience strong last-minute bookings, especially in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Sunny Deol's appeal in these smaller markets is likely to contribute to this trend. By noon on its opening day (April 10), Jaat had generated less than ₹2 crore, with industry experts predicting it could reach ₹10 crore by the end of the day. This would position it as Sunny Deol's second-best opening, following Gadar 2. However, the disparity between Jaat and Gadar 2 is significant, as the latter debuted with an impressive ₹40 crore.
Are Jaat's box office prospects looking good?
In conclusion, a net opening of less than ₹15 crore in India on its first day would be disappointing for a film of Jaat's magnitude. If the film indeed opens at ₹10 crore, as industry analysts anticipate, this would represent only 40% of the earnings of Sikandar, the Salman Khan film that premiered last Sunday. Given that Sikandar's opening was deemed weak, Jaat's potential opening at less than half of that figure raises concerns. Furthermore, if Jaat remains at the ₹10 crore level, it will fall short compared to Akshay Kumar's Sky Force, which debuted at ₹12 crore earlier this year. Consequently, Jaat would need exceptional word-of-mouth support to recover from this situation.
Directed by Gopichand Malineni in his Hindi film debut, Jaat features a cast that includes Regina Cassandra, Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar Singh, Saiyami Kher, Ramya Krishnan, and Jagapathi Babu.
