Box office clashes are essential for the movie ecosystem to thrive, adding thrills and excitement to the experience. Healthy clashes often draw the attention of the masses, which can lead to increased footfall for all the films involved. While we are always eager to witness clashes in the Hindi and South Indian circuits, it’s rare when an Indian film dares to compete with a major commercial Hollywood movie. But now, we’re gearing up for one such clash in India—over a year from now! Yes, you read that right. Christmas 2025 just got even more exciting as Alia Bhatt and Sharvari's Alpha is set to clash with James Cameron’s highly anticipated Avatar: Fire And Ash.

Alpha vs. Avatar: Fire And Ash

That’s right, fans! If both movies stay on schedule without any delays, we could witness Alpha and Avatar 3 (also known as Avatar: Fire And Ash) clashing at the Indian box office. While Avatar: Fire and Ash is set to release on December 19, 2025, Alpha is slated to hit screens almost a week later, on December 25, 2025. This gives Avatar 3 the advantage of a one-week lead before the Alia Bhatt starrer arrives in theaters. However, no other films are scheduled between the two, or on Christmas Day itself.

Interestingly, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s war epic Love & War was also originally scheduled for Christmas 2025. If it had stayed on that date, things would have gotten even more interesting, with Alia Bhatt competing against herself, as she stars in both Alpha and Bhansali's film. However, Love & War has now been pushed to March 20, 2026, leaving Alpha and Avatar: Fire And Ash to go head-to-head in India.

About Alpha

Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha has been in pre-production for quite some time. The film stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in action-packed roles, and reports suggest Bhatt has undergone intense training for the part. The movie will be shot in various locations around the world, with Anil Kapoor playing the mentor to the two leads. While no plot details have been revealed, Alpha is connected to the YRF Spy Universe, which includes Tiger, War, and Pathaan. Alpha is set to release on December 25, 2025.

About Avatar: Fire And Ash

James Cameron returns to direct the third installment in the Avatar franchise, which has been written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. Sadly, Cameron will be working without his longtime collaborator Jon Landau, who passed away recently. No official synopsis or plot details have been released yet, but the film will continue the story of Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully and Zoe Saldana’s Neytiri, along with the return of other recurring cast members and new faces. Following Avatar (2009) and Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), Avatar: Fire And Ash is set to hit theaters on December 19, 2025.
