Excitement has been building around the film adaptation of the popular web series Mirzapur, and actor Ali Fazal has recently shared intriguing details about the upcoming project. While he stopped short of confirming whether it would be a prequel, he did tease that the film will feature "some dead people walking."

Ali Fazal Hints at Mirzapur Film Details

During a roundtable discussion with The Hollywood Reporter India, Ali Fazal, who plays Guddu Pandit in the series, expressed his enthusiasm for the film. “We are very excited. It’s the original cast, and we’re going back in time,” he stated.

When asked if this meant it was a prequel to Mirzapur, Ali replied, “You’ll find out. But we are really excited to bring it to theaters. Peaky Blinders also did something similar; it wasn’t just an odd choice.”

All About the Mirzapur Film

The Mirzapur film is being created by Puneet Krishna and directed by Gurmmeet Singh, with a scheduled release date in 2026. The project will feature the return of familiar faces, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, and Divyenndu as Munna, alongside Abhishek Banerjee, who plays the compounder in the series. This was announced in this October.

The film is set to premiere in theaters before becoming available on Prime Video India. Produced by Excel Entertainment, the Mirzapur series first debuted its first season in November 2018, followed by the second season in October 2020, and its third season released in July 2024.
