The world has been hooked on everything Marvel, and there's no harm in doing so because the world is about to witness the biggest Marvel Cinematic Universe event of the year this week. As we move closer to the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, set for July 26 worldwide, excitement is building. While fans eagerly consume every single update about the movie, Kevin Feige has decided to make the week even merrier. The Marvel President, who is set to take the stage at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, has been revealing a whole lot about the future of the universe. While doing so, he has now teased the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, and nothing gets bigger and better than this.
Iron Man's Return Possioble?
Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark breathed his last in the MCU in Avengers: Endgame while defeating Thanos. His exit was the most emotional moment in the MCU so far, and fans have been waiting to see him back in some capacity. Reports have been floating forever about the studio planning his return as the patriarch of the MCU. Now, Kevin Feige, who is presiding over the decision to bring back Wolverine, has spoken about whether there is room to bring back Iron Man. Read on to know everything about it.
For the uninitiated, Deadpool & Wolverine brings back Hugh Jackman’s character after he died in Logan, which was under the Fox banner. Now there is a possibility that this is not the Logan we loved but a different variant. But likewise, there is also room for Robert Downey Jr. to reprise Iron Man. And Kevin Feige doesn't deny it. In an interview with DiscussingFilm, the filmmaker revealed:
“That’s the key, right? How do you do it in a way that maintains what has come before, and in a great way? And we’ve been spending, you know, the last two-plus years figuring that out for Wolverine,” Feige said when asked about Downey and Evans coming back. “So, what’s to come? We’ll see. We’re just proud that we, I think, have figured it out for Wolverine. I think Hugh’s appearance and starring role in [‘Deadpool & Wolverine’] is a great sign that it can be done — if great care is taken.”
There have been numerous reports floating around the internet about plans to mark Robert Downey Jr.’s return. Nothing has come to fruition, however. Meanwhile, Deadpool & Wolverine is all set to release on July 26 and marks the entry of the X-Men into the MCU in the biggest way. Directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, the movie ties directly into Avengers 5 and the X-Men film.
